BCS’ 5-year programme is only the first step in the learning of Buddhism. During this period, the students are required to develop their moral integrity as well as improve professional and cultural literacy.
Presently, BCS is conducting a 3-year Bachelor of Arts in Buddhist Studies joint-academic programme in English with the University of Kelaniya (UOK), Sri Lanka. However, in order to develop our students’ proficiency in the English Language, we are conducting a 2-year foundation course, which brings the total duration of the programme to 5 years.
In addition, BCS is also running a 4-year Bachelor of Arts (Chinese Buddhism) programme in Mandarin. This programme is affiliated to Thailand’s Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University (MCU). In order to develop the students’ basic proficiency in both the English and Chinese language, we are conducting a 1-year foundation course, thereby bringing the total duration of the programme to 5 years as well.
As the Rector’s objective is for BCS to become an institution specializing in educating future promulgators of Chinese Buddhism, therefore, our specialization subjects shall focus on the lineage of Chinese Buddhism.
