首届中英文学士班毕业典礼

    BCS Graduation Ceremony for Pioneer Cohort

    2011年7月15日, 新加坡佛学院在无相殿隆重举行了新加坡佛学院第一届中英文本科毕业生的毕业典礼。参加典礼的海内外嘉宾约有五百人, 共同见证了新加坡佛学院这一喜庆的历史时刻。
    毕业典礼在庄严法喜的三宝歌声中拉开序幕。光明山普觉禅寺方丈兼新加坡佛学院院长广声大和尚向所有来宾及师生作了热烈的欢迎词,接着受邀前来的嘉宾:中国国家宗教事務局四司司长,吕晋光女士;中国佛教协会副会长, 湛如法师;泰国朱拉隆功佛教大学外交事务副校长,Phrakhrupalad Suvathanavachirakhun; 斯里兰卡克拉尼亚大学署理注册官K. Gunaratne先生, 都先后发表了讲话,并与院长互赠礼品及留影纪念。随之,广声大和尚为十名斯里兰卡克拉尼亚大学的英文学士同学,及九名泰国朱拉隆功佛教大学的中文学士同学,一一颁发了毕业证书。中英文学士班的学生代表分别用中英文双语作了答谢词。最后,新加坡佛学院通过视频剪辑的短片与海内外来宾们分享了学僧们在学院五年里的心路旅程。
    毕业典礼在一首意境幽远的“大鹏金翅鸟”歌曲中徐徐进入尾声,典礼在皆大欢喜中圆满顺利地完成。随后,学院准备了一顿丰盛的素斋午宴,以答谢所有受邀来宾及护法义工们的辛劳与支持。

    On 15 July 2011, it was a joyous occasion for the Buddhist College of Singapore (BCS) as it hosted the Graduation Ceremony for the Pioneer Cohort of students who had successfully attained their Bachelor of Arts Degree in Buddhist Studies. Approximately five hundred local and overseas guests attended this grand ceremony at the Hall of No Form, which marked an important milestone for BCS.
    The ceremony began with both honourable guests and audience paying respect to the Buddha and Flower Offering rituals, followed by the song of the Triple Gem. Venerable Kwang Sheng, the KMSPKS Abbot and BCS Rector presented a warm welcome address to the audience. Honourable guests include Director-General Lv Jingguang from the State Administration for Religious Affairs (SARA); Venerable Zhanru, Vice President of the Buddhist Association of China; Phrakhrupalad Suvathanavachirakhun, Vice-Rector for Foreign Affairs,Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University and Mr. K. Gunaratne, Acting Registrar of University of Kelaniya. They presented speeches to the audience and exchanged souvenirs with Venerable Kwang Sheng.
    A total of nineteen students received their graduation certificates from Venerable Kwang Sheng. Ten students completed the 5-year Bachelor of Arts in Buddhist Studies, a joint-academic programme in English with the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka and nine students completed their 5-year Bachelor of Arts (Chinese Buddhism) programme which is affiliated to Thailand’s Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University. Class representatives from both courses presented their utmost sincere speeches to express their gratitude to the Abbot, Venerables, teachers and staff of BCS, as well as the generous Dharma volunteers for their support. Fond memories of the graduates’ life in BCS were also shared with the supportive audience via a short video clip.
    Last but not least, an astonishing song and drum performance and a group photo taking of the representatives, graduates, their beloved teachers and class mentors added to the highlights of the ceremony. The ceremony concluded with a sumptuous lunch to reward everyone’s efforts and wonderful support.
